Departmental Information

Department of Botany was established in year 2008 in premises Atul Vidya Mandirs “ Rajarshee Shahu Science College Chandur Rly under the patronage of Honourable President Prof Valmikrao Jagtap, Vice –President Sau Uttara V. Jagtap, Secretary Prof Virendr V. Jagtap. Honourable President Prof. Annasaheb Jagtap inaugurates the Department. At initial stage department was run with minimum recourse. Near about 21 students was admitted in 2008 department with one teaching faculty, one lab attended and one lab assistant. Subject was associated with group such as Chemistry Botany Zoology and Computer science Botany and Chemistry. Department has small lab with few microscope, class work material, and glass wares. At the year 2010 we had first batch of 11 student appeared for final examination passing out with 27 percentage of result. Right from 2010 department had well defined growth and progress in no of Admission as well as results. Near about six batches was pass out from the department with good score of mark. At present Department had &75 percentage of result with two student having distinction in subject. At present department has well equipped lab with 50 student’s capacity, glass wares, microscopes, specimens , class work material. To fullfill the needs of student and to create interest in subject department organized various events every year, guest lecture, Botanical tour, institutional visit, seminar competition, group Discussion. Various extension activities was also run by the department. Department has well flourish Botanical Garden with various medicinal as well as ornamental plants.

Aim of the Department

  • To achieve academic excellence in basic and applied aspects of plant sciences.
  • To impart basic and advanced education to students through teaching, learning, research and evaluation.
  • To motivate the students to undertake research in basic and applied thrust areas of plant sciences.
  • To inoculate scientific awareness towards protecting diversity and Eco-environmental Management of plant resources for sustainable development.
